__NOTOC__ The General David Humphreys House, located at 37 Elm St., Ansonia, Connecticut, was built from 1695 to 1698 and is the birthplace of the American Revolutionary War Colonel David Humphreys. Humphreys was a friend of and aide de camp to General George Washington and was nominated by President Washington to become the first ambassador of the United States to a foreign country (Portugal).
